Do you see what I see? Way up in the sky, a full moon on Christmas! This rare event in 2015 is the first full moon on Christmas since 1977, and won’t occur again until 2034.
Santa’s worldwide trip will certainly have a “lustre of mid-day to objects below” as the full moon lights up the way. Full moons throughout the year actually have names, and this is the Cold Moon, since it occurs soon after the start of Winter. Even though the record high temperatures across the U.S. don’t make it feel much like Winter this year!
If it’s cloudy where you live, you can tune in to the Slooh telescope live feed to watch the moon and hear some Christmas poems being read, and you may even spot Santa criss-crossing the sky!
Already getting some shots of the full Christmas moon. This one taken by @LTFERGY66. Wont happen again until 2034! pic.twitter.com/lhbLJNos8R
