Have You Ever Seen The Chicago Christmas Train?

This is such a joyous sight to see: A whole train decorated for Christmas by the Chicago Transit Authority!

Rail riders in Chicago might catch a glimpse of a very unique train during the holiday season. During November and December, one of Chicago’s elevated trains gets decorated with blinking lights and holiday decorations on both the inside and outside, turning it into a glowing, festive Christmas train! There’s even a flat-bed train car in the middle so that Santa can ride along in his sleigh and wave at everyone at the train station.

The train travels every line of the Chicago Transit rail system starting in late November after Thanksgiving, and has pre-scheduled photo opportunities with Santa throughout the month. The larger purpose of the train is truly the giveaways of food baskets to those in need, which are delivered over three days by the Holiday Train.

Keep an eye on the CTA website to see when the 2014 schedule becomes available.
